Today is Martin Luther King Jr. Day - a moment to reflect, slow down, and reconnect with our community. If you’re looking for ways to get out and experience Seattle this week, we’ve rounded up a mix of events worth knowing about, from big moments to simple local plans.

Jacob Banks: Yonder Tour

January 24, 8:00pm Neptune Theatre
Jacob Banks brings a soulful style that blends R&B, folk and modern pop. He is back in Seattle on his Yonder Tour. Originally scheduled for last May, the show is finally happening - and there are still tickets available. This is a great pick for anyone who enjoys thoughtful songwriting and live shows that feel personal rather than high-production.

Kubota Garden - Public Tour

January 24, 10:00am - 12:00pm Kubota Garden
If you’re looking for a slower-paced way to get out this week, Kubota Garden is hosting a guided two-hour walk through the grounds. Expect a relaxed pace, vibrant plant life, and plenty of time to take in the gardens while learning about their history from a local expert. Space is limited.

Guided Nature Walk: Arctic Visitors Bird Walk

January 24, 9:00am - 11:00am Seward Park
Registration is required (opens January 22). Nick Dujnic of the National Audubon Society will be providing a 30-minute classroom session followed by a 90-minute walk along the shores of Seward Park. Expect a walk of about 2.5 miles and views of the arctic waterfowl that are visiting the area.

Seattle Aquarium After Hours: Winter Warmth

January 22, 5:30pm - 8:30pm Seattle Aquarium
The Seattle Aquarium will be open late for adult guests (21+) this Thursday. Explore the habitats, purchase food and drink, and chat with staff. There will also be a new Seattle Aquarium beer to try out.

Thousands of exotic animals are coming to the fairgrounds. From reptiles and fish to arachnids and more. A good fit for families, hobbyists, or anyone curious about exotic animals.
