Whether you want loud engines or a quiet museum night, here are some great ways to spend the weekend around Seattle.
Tacoma’s Monster Jam
January 16 - 18, various showings • Tacoma Dome
Eight monster trucks roll into town as part of the Arena Championship Series West. Expect racing, tricks, and plenty of noise. Look out for Pit Party and Meet & Greet options, too.
The Great Train Show
January 17 - 18, 10:00am - 4:00pm • Washington State Fairgrounds
See dioramas of working train sets of all sizes - some as large as 3000 square feet! Whether you’re an avid collector, new to the hobby, or just curious there will be plenty to see. Sounds like there will be a working Lego train system as well.
Museum of Flight’s First Free Thursday
January 15, 5:00pm - 9:00pm • Museum of Flight
Is it the first Thursday of the month? Nope. They shifted this one so staff could enjoy New Year’s. The museum will still be open late (and free to enter) starting at 5:00pm this Thursday only.
Follow the Yellow Brick Road: An Oz Film Festival
January 17 - 18, 10:00am - 5:00pm • MOPOP
Explore somewhere over the rainbow with four Oz themed movies each day, plus games, crafts, and a Sunday panel. Tickets include access to the rest of the museum. VIP registration (free) gets you priority seating.
